Starvation or disease?

Since I am into community health care, I have to visit patients in the field. Last month randomly picked up the name of a tribal patient under treatment for TB in a remote village of Phulbani district in Orissa. Located his house with much difficulty (located on top of a hill, involved much walking). On reaching there, came to know that the poor TB patient had passed away a couple of days ago. The National TB Control Control gave free TB medicines.... but what about food? Starvation is a far dreaded phenomena than even TB. The patient was the sole earning member of the family. Wife and kids left behind with no source of income whatsoever. The villagers barely earn enough to keep body and soul together. So no question of community coming forward to help. What next?
